This Privacy Policy explains what information the mobile game and web app Neon Defender — Rise of the Zombojis (“Neon Defender”, “the game”, “we”, “us”) collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By playing the game you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Neon Defender is an independently developed game. For any privacy question or request, contact us at zigiwiz+neon@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Display name — the name you type to play online. It is shown to other players in multiplayer rooms and on leaderboards.
- Google account details (only if you choose to sign in with Google) — your name, email address, profile photo, and Google account identifier, used to create and restore your player account and cloud save. Signing in is optional; you can play as a guest instead.
Information collected automatically
- Game progress & account data — your level, in-game currency (“cores”), owned cosmetic items, scores, and settings, stored so your progress follows you across sessions and devices.
- Purchase history - if you buy a core pack in the Android app: the Google Play order ID, which pack you bought, when, and the cores credited, kept with your account so that each purchase is credited exactly once and to prevent fraud.
- Multiplayer session data — while you are in an online match, your chosen name, in-game position, score, and similar match state are shared in real time with the other players in that room so the match can run. This is transient match data.
- Usage & analytics — anonymous, aggregated gameplay events (for example: a run started or ended, a match finished, an item purchased, a menu opened) and basic device/app information, used to understand how the game is played and to improve it.
- Diagnostics — if the game hits an error, we may record technical crash/error information (such as the error message and which wave or mode it happened in) to fix bugs.
- Identifiers — an app-instance / analytics identifier and, on Android, an advertising identifier (see “Advertising” below).
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, or any special-category sensitive personal data.
3. How we use information
- To run the game, including online multiplayer, matchmaking rooms, and leaderboards.
- To save and restore your account, progress, and purchases across devices.
- To measure, analyze, and improve gameplay, performance, and stability.
- To show advertising on the Android app (see below).
- To prevent abuse and enforce fair play (for example, basic anti-cheat checks on submitted scores).
- To keep display names appropriate (see “Display names and leaderboards” below).
4. Display names and leaderboards
Your display name is public: other players see it in online matches and on the leaderboards. Names that are offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or harassing, that impersonate someone else, or that contain personal information (such as a phone number or address), links or advertising are not allowed, in any language.
- Automatic filter - the game checks names against a list of prohibited words, and any match is replaced with asterisks wherever the name appears, including on the leaderboards.
- Manual review - we regularly review the names shown on the leaderboards, including names written in other languages, which we may check with translation tools.
- Our right to remove or censor names - we, the developer of Neon Defender, may at our own discretion and without prior notice censor, change or remove any display name we consider not allowed, and delete the leaderboard entries that show it. A changed name may be replaced with a neutral default name.
If you think your name was changed or removed by mistake, contact us at zigiwiz+neon@gmail.com.
5. Service providers we use
We rely on the following third-party services, which process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own policies:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Hosting) — accounts, cloud save, multiplayer, and leaderboards. Firebase privacy.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage analytics. Google privacy.
- Google AdMob (Android app only) — advertising. AdMob & data.
- Google reCAPTCHA v3 (via Firebase App Check) — verifies that requests to our servers come from the genuine app rather than automated/abusive clients. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. Google privacy.
This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
In-app purchases (core packs in the Android app) are processed by Google Play Billing. We receive the order details Google Play shares with us, such as the order ID and the pack bought, and keep them with your account as described above. We never receive or store your card or payment-account numbers.
6. Advertising and your choices
The Android version of Neon Defender shows opt-in rewarded video ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob may use your device’s advertising identifier and related signals. You can:
- Reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your Android device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Where required by law, choose your consent preference for personalized ads when prompted in the app.
The web version does not show ads.
7. Where data is stored
Data is processed and stored on Google’s infrastructure. Multiplayer match data is routed through a regional database close to players (for example, a European or United States region) to reduce latency; account, save, and leaderboard data is stored centrally. By playing, you understand your data may be processed in these regions.
8. Data retention and deletion
We keep account and progress data for as long as your account exists. Transient multiplayer match data is short-lived and is removed when a room closes. You can delete your account and all associated game data — including your cloud save, wallet, leaderboard entries, and any stored display name — yourself, immediately, at neondefender.web.app/delete-account (also available in the game under your account panel). If you prefer, or if you have trouble with that page, email zigiwiz+neon@gmail.com from the email associated with your account and we will action verified requests within a reasonable time.
One exception: we keep a minimal record of each in-app purchase (the Google Play order ID, the pack, the date and the account it was credited to) even after an account is deleted, to handle refunds and to stop the same purchase from being credited twice.
9. Children’s privacy
Neon Defender is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact zigiwiz+neon@gmail.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, may provide an in-app or store notice. Continued play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact
